Division of Responsibility

Feedback on the Website, Wiki, Forums and other bits of our Web Infrastructure

Postby mikedee » Wed Dec 06, 2006 9:34 pm

Bugzilla will be useful for extra bugs, there is a xorg bugtracker for anything in core. Its hard to find and place bugs so we should try to replicate bugs in core here before someone can report it with as much information as possible on the official tracker.

Git is really essential. David seems to be clearing through his backlog slowly but steadily so hopefully we will have one soon.

BTW anyone can help by spreading the word that compiz is still alive, there seems to be a lot of misinformation on some of the distro specific forums.

OK, well this discussion went a lot better than I expected. I was sure we were going to spend days throwing tomatoes at each other <grin>. I'll go ahead and wind up this thread with a brief summary of our roles and responsibilities:

Name: imnotpc
Title: Commodore Plunger
Responsibilities: Provide support and resources to the team leaders, looking for things that may be overlooked or require the coordination of different resources. When we hit a work flow bottleneck or vapor lock, apply the plunger to break through and keep things moving. Act as liaison to the mailing list and David to keep them up to date on our activities.

Name: RYX
Title: Site Designer
Responsibilities: Develop and maintain the site coordinating the logo(s), theme, and components into an attractive, functional site.

Name: zootreeves
Title: Forum Administrator
Responsibilities: Manage all things related to the forum.

Name: amgeex
Title: Wiki Master
Responsibilities: Maintain the wiki and manage the documentation.

Name: mikedee
Title: Troubleshooter
Responsibilities: Provide technical support to the other team members and developers as needed.

Name: twigsby
Title: Graphic Designer
Responsibilities: Work with RYX to provide graphic and site design support.

Name: watkin5
Title: Lurker
Responsibilities: No specific responsibilities. Just lurk around the site.

Name: gandalfn
Title: Compiz Packager
Responsibilities: Bundle the developers' work into packages for use by other developers and the public.

These aren't set in stone and if you'd like to change your title and/or responsibilities please speak up. It's not a high priority to me, but some point in the future it would be nice to put this on the site somewhere so we can give recognition to those that contribute and have taken on responsibility.

Great summary of our titles and responsibilities. I agree that we should put this list on the go-compiz site, maybe under Community Credits or Community Team, something like that. Let me know, and I'll do it asap. :D

I think is adequate, but I'd like to hear what mikedee, RYX, twigsby and the others have to say.

Not that I'm officially sanctioned in any way, I'd be glad to help where I can.

I'm a forums dude. Experience working on several large fora. Also an Ubuntu user and fairly knowledgeable.

Welcome aboard ButteBlues. I'm going to 'port' the list to its own 'Our team' page on the wiki. 8)

UPDATE:
The 'port' has been completed, check it out at http://www.go-compiz.org/index.php?title=Our_Team

Im happy to do any wiki type stuff. Im not much of a graphic designer but have quite a bit of experience formatting mediawiki things. If you want some templates or things setup (like how I did the plugins page for example) then ping me.
