Black borders on all windows

Postby jej2003 » Sun Feb 25, 2007 8:10 pm

First off the specs
Compiz 0.36
Ubuntu Feisty
using AIGLX

Whenever I run compiz-tray-icon it loads compiz but it puts this horrible black border around every window, and it doesn't refresh the screens contents until I click on a window. So for example if the top window is a terminal I can type forever but wont' see anything come up until I click the window. Any idea how to diagnose this?

right now it looks as though the upgrade from xorg 7.1 to 7.2 is what broke me...I tried to back off to 7.1 again but that didn't work....looks like I'll have to wait for an update.

I've got same problem after upgrading mesa glx and dri packages.

Debian Sid
Xorg 7.1 (newer freezes when using 3d)
Radeon 9600 Pro, AIGLX

The same problem occurs when installing compiz on an eee pc. Almost everyone at eeeuser.com has had this problem, If anyone can help there would be a lot of grateful users.

At a total guess, turn off backingstore in xorg.conf?

Option "BackingStore" "False"

in the Device section...

Hello again! We've come up with a solution/work around which might work for you. In ccsm under window decoration set shadow radius to the lowest which is 0.1000 then set "Shadow Windows" to
Code: Select all
!any

Hope that helps
